Reflection on Meg Wallace's Freedom OF or Freedom FROM Religion? THURSDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 2015 and very informative book FREEDOM FROM RELIGION - RETHINKING ARTICLE 18 Meg Wallace, 2015

"NEW DELHI: Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind, the powerful body of Muslim clerics, has said that Muslim personal law flows from the Holy Quran and cannot be subjected to any scrutiny by the Supreme Court based on principles of the Constitution."
Muslim personal law founded on Quran, SC can't question it: Jamiat TNN | Feb 6, 2016

My view is there is a fatal assumption inherent in Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (‘UDHR”) and it is this.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

The European union ruling on the woman seeking to take her own life was as plain as day that the inherent view is an individual does not make up their own ethics-morals-values-beliefs-motivation and methodology cultures do and their altruistic enforcers of which the European court is a prime example make damned sure adherents stick to the cultural script within the cultural autonomy limits within which the individual adherent exists.

It was noted in one research paper I came across prejudice against Other peaks around 5 years of age (thanks to physical limitations not able to completely control a Kalashnikov) dips a little but from then on underwrites what is to come - in fact supposedly nigh impossible to change. Which means what about autonomy in reality?

Also there appears to be an assumption we humans after the cultural development process infant-child-adolescent-adult particularly a culture with strong network control end up having the same capacity to discern what belief-system is better for us than another and even if at the cultural behavioral variance edges there may be a wish to change the belief-system makes it rather difficult to move. Frankly to this point I am in no way convinced this is possible given the evidence these development processes can lead to cultural significantly different outcomes regards other and the capacity to cross cultural borders apart from the individual autonomy only ever existing within cultural autonomy limits.

Also in the book regards the Islamic inclusion under UN human rights there are significant value differences with Western Liberalism which are cultural and not at all to be taken as applying to separate nations as we can see with the dead bodies in our streets - in other words as we see around the world social hostility rises when significantly different values end up in the same space - cultural codex tend to be non-contradictory and drive political social outcomes regards State policy and will not be divorced I believe so easily without force or the acceptance of the tranquility of silence so favored by the Iranian elite and the ASIO head Duncan Lewis - democracy as we know it would then be dead –personal belief systems cannot in my view be divorced from the culturally contrived individual belief system version of what the political and social world should be.

If cultures decide our individual relative autonomy and belief systems-knowledge which enable or not our capacity to even discern 'good' from 'evil' then the wording should be changed to hold cultures to account for the infamy they inform systemically from their non-radicalised, moderate, law abiding ranks not the 'few' altruistic aligners/enforcers/punishers they create and sustain to become the managers and perpetrators of cultural infamy.

My view is it can no longer be a matter of 'educating' citizens as to their responsibilities and behaviours regards each other as individuals in Democracies which necessarily contain many cultures due to our globalized world, as cultures set the behavioral variance within which their adherents exist it is a matter of reviewing what a cultures responsibilities and behaviours regards each other culture in their same space have to be and abide by for any culture to be accepted to and remain in a Democratic multicultural

Terrorism Will Not Provoke Us To Abandon Our Values – John Kerry Channels Television. Updated January 23, 2016

The value placed upon Freedom of Religion must change to reflect the actual value it holds for humanity rather than what we would hope it would hold, for the rising cost of burning buildings, broken bodies and lives determines Freedom of Religion a worthless political and social construct.

Research determines more religion is clearly not the answer for the evil religion informs daily in our midst, any belief system be it secular or religious must be held to account for the infamy the non-radicalised, 'moderate' law abiding systemically inform from their ranks, social constructs such as Freedom of Religion must no longer be able to be utilised to shield, privilege one ideology-belief system over another so as to protect a culture from earned censure and calls for removal from public and private spheres so as to enhance humanities security and maximised possibility for a flourishing life.

"The use of force and violence is more commonplace and prevalent in some families, communities, religions, cultural/ethnic groups and societies based on the views and values about adult prerogatives with children espoused. They may also be based upon the sociopathy of the perpetrators." Treatment of Complex Trauma Courtois/Ford 2016

Sociopathy: groups of people who adopt belief systems which cause them to behave in a similar fashion.

"..children raised in religious households, who are perceived to be more empathetic and sensitive to justice, are in fact less altruistic to their own class mates .... children from religious households also differ in their ratings of deserved punishment for interpersonal harm (F(2, 847) = 5.80, p < 0.01, h2 = 0.014); this was qualified by significantly harsher ratings of punishment by children from Muslim households than children from non-religious households (p < 0.01). There were no significant differences between children from Christian households and non-religious households.".

I have most likely misunderstood Meg Wallace's argument and despite the above very much appreciate what Meg Wallace has achieved and is trying to do against the tide.
